1. Definitions and interpretation

1.1 In this Product Selection Policy (this "Policy"), capitalized terms have the meanings given in our Terms of Service (the "Terms"), and the following terms have the following meanings:

1.2 Headings are for convenience only. "Including" means "including without limitation". This Policy forms part of, and is governed by, the Terms. If this Policy conflicts with the Terms, the Terms prevail except where this Policy expressly states otherwise.

2. The Standard Program

2.1 Selection. Unless a Custom Product Request has been accepted under section 3, Clarté shall select every product, tool and method used in the Services. Selection is made by trained personnel according to the Surface, its manufacturer's care guidance where available, the condition observed at the walkthrough, and Clarté's professional judgment.

2.2 Use. Clarté shall use each product of the Standard Program in accordance with its manufacturer's label, including dilution, dwell time, ventilation and personal protective equipment, and shall not mix products.

2.3 Safety data sheets. Upon written request through our contact form, Clarté shall provide the Client with the safety data sheet for each product of the Standard Program used or intended to be used at the Property.

2.4 Our commitments apply in full. The re-clean promise, the photo-checked finish and Clarté's responsibility for damage, each as set out in the Terms, apply in full only to Services performed under the Standard Program.

2.5 No environmental or health claims. Clarté does not represent that any product of the Standard Program is "eco-friendly", "green", "natural", "non-toxic", "chemical-free", "hypoallergenic", "safe for children or pets" or similar. Every cleaning product, whatever its label or marketing, contains chemical substances and is handled accordingly. Nothing in this Policy is an environmental marketing claim within the meaning of California Business and Professions Code section 17580.5 or the Federal Trade Commission's Guides for the Use of Environmental Marketing Claims (16 C.F.R. Part 260).

3. Custom Product Requests

3.1 Discretion. Clarté may accept, decline or accept on conditions any Custom Product Request, in its sole discretion. A Custom Product Request is not accepted until Clarté confirms acceptance in writing and the Client has delivered the Product Acknowledgment.

3.2 How to make a request. A Custom Product Request shall be made in writing through our contact form or client portal not less than seven (7) days before the first Visit to which it applies, and shall identify each product by its exact name, manufacturer and size, and the Surfaces on which it is to be used or avoided.

3.3 Documentation. For each Client-Supplied Product or Specified Product, the Client shall provide, or authorize Clarté to obtain at the Client's cost, the manufacturer's current safety data sheet and use instructions. Clarté may decline any product for which these are unavailable, incomplete, illegible or not in English.

3.4 Products Clarté will not use. Clarté shall not use, and may refuse at any time without liability:

3.5 Compatibility testing. Before first use, Clarté may test any Client-Supplied Product or Specified Product on an inconspicuous area of each intended Surface. Testing time is charged at Clarté's then-current hourly rate. Clarté may decline the product if testing indicates risk to the Surface or unsatisfactory results.

3.6 Time. Specialty products frequently require longer dwell times, additional passes and separate tools. The Client acknowledges that Visits involving a Custom Product Request take longer and that additional time is charged as set out in section 6.

3.7 Withdrawal. The Client may withdraw a Custom Product Request at any time by written notice, effective for Visits more than forty-eight (48) hours after the notice. Upon withdrawal, the Standard Program applies, and fees already incurred for sourced products are not refundable.

4. The Product Acknowledgment

4.1 As a condition of acceptance of any Custom Product Request, the Client shall acknowledge and agree in writing that:

4.2 What the Acknowledgment does not do. Nothing in this section 4 limits Clarté's responsibility for its own negligence, gross negligence, willful misconduct, fraud or violation of law, or any responsibility that California Civil Code section 1668 or other applicable law does not permit to be limited. Clarté remains responsible for using any product with reasonable care and in accordance with its label.

5. Client-Supplied Products

5.1 Supply. The Client shall supply Client-Supplied Products in sufficient quantity for each Visit, in original labeled containers, at the Property, at the location agreed in writing. If a Client-Supplied Product is missing, insufficient or refused under section 3.4, Clarté may, at its option, perform the affected tasks under the Standard Program, omit the affected tasks without reduction of the fee, or reschedule the Visit, in which case the cancellation provisions of the Terms apply.

5.2 Storage. Clarté is not responsible for the storage, security, condition or replenishment of Client-Supplied Products between Visits.

5.3 Title and risk. Client-Supplied Products remain the Client's property and at the Client's risk at all times.

6. Fees

6.2 Additional time. Time required in excess of the time estimated for the Visit under the Standard Program, by reason of a Custom Product Request, is charged at Clarté's then-current hourly rate.

6.3 Sourced products. Products sourced under a Custom Product Request are purchased for the Client's account, are non-returnable once ordered, and are charged when ordered. Price changes by the manufacturer or retailer are passed through at cost.

6.4 Disclosure before payment. Every fee under this section 6 is shown in the Client's estimate or booking confirmation before the Client confirms or pays. No fee is charged that was not disclosed in this way.

7. Allergies, sensitivities and health

7.1 The Client shall notify Clarté in writing, before the first Visit and promptly upon any change, of any allergy, asthma, chemical sensitivity, pregnancy, medical condition or animal at the Property that may be affected by cleaning products.

7.2 Upon such notice, Clarté shall review the products it intends to use with the Client and provide the relevant safety data sheets. Clarté does not provide medical advice, and nothing Clarté says about any product is medical advice. The Client should consult a physician or veterinarian regarding any health concern.

7.3 If any person at the Property reports an adverse reaction during a Visit, Clarté's personnel shall stop using the product concerned, ventilate the area where practical and notify the Client.

8. Surfaces requiring special care

8.1 Natural stone (including marble, limestone, travertine and onyx), unsealed or oiled wood, lacquer, gilding, antique and hand-applied finishes, silk and other natural fibers, leather, aircraft and marine interiors, paint protection films and ceramic coatings, and works of art may be damaged by products that are suitable elsewhere.

8.2 If the Client instructs Clarté to use a product on a Surface for which the product's manufacturer, or the Surface's manufacturer, does not approve that use, Clarté shall so inform the Client and may require written confirmation of the instruction before proceeding, or may decline. Where the Client confirms the instruction in writing, section 4.1(d) applies to that use.

8.3 Works of art, antiques and collections are dusted only, and are never treated with any product, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

9. Vehicles, aircraft and vessels

9.1 For automobile, aircraft and vessel detailing, products are subject also to the requirements of the vehicle, aircraft or vessel manufacturer, any coating or film manufacturer, and the rules of the garage, airport, fixed-base operator or marina where the Services are performed. Clarté may decline any product not approved under those requirements.

9.2 Aircraft interiors are cleaned only with products compatible with the aircraft's interior materials, and nothing in this Policy authorizes any work governed by aviation maintenance regulations.

10. Our recommendation

10.1 Most clients ask us simply to care for their home as we know best. That is what the Standard Program is: products chosen by people who work with these Surfaces every day, used exactly as their makers intend, with our full commitments behind the result. If you have a preference, an allergy or a product you love, tell us at your walkthrough and we will talk it through with you.

11. Changes and contact

11.1 Clarté may amend this Policy. Amendments take effect for Visits booked after the date shown at the top of this page, and fees for an accepted Custom Product Request shall not increase for Visits already confirmed.

11.2 Questions about this Policy may be sent through our contact form.
